Trading on the equities segment takes place on all days of the week (except Saturdays and Sundays and holidays declared by the Exchange in advance). The market timings of the equities segment are:
Pre-open session:
Order entry & modification Opens: 09:00 hours (9 am)
Order entry & modification Closes: 09:08 hours* (9:08 am)
with random closure in the last 1 minute. Pre-open order matching starts immediately after the close of pre-open order entry.
Regular trading session:
Normal/Limited Physical Market Opens: 09:15 hours (9:15 am)
Normal/Limited Physical Market Close: 15:30 hours (3:30 pm)
The Closing Session is held between 15:40 hours and 16:00 hours.
Note: The Exchange may however close the market on days other than the above scheduled holidays or may open the market on days originally declared as holidays. The Exchange may also extend, advance, or reduce trading hours when it deems fit and necessary.
After Market Order (AMO)
AMO refers to the facility using which you can place orders to buy or sell stocks for the next day's trading before the commencement of trading. This is useful for people who are unable to monitor the market at opening or during the trading session. AMO timings are 3:40 PM to 8:50 AM (the next day).
